Ingredients

  • 2 lb boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 2 teaspoons Minnezona House Seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 tablespoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter, for finishing
  • Cooked basmati rice and cilantro, for serving

Directions

  1. Season chicken with House Seasoning and place in the slow cooker.
  2. Add onion, garlic, ginger, garam masala, cumin, paprika, turmeric, tomato sauce and diced tomatoes. Stir gently.
  3. Cook on LOW 5–6 hours or HIGH 3–4 hours until chicken is tender and reaches at least 165°F.
  4. Stir in heavy cream and finishing butter. Break chicken into large pieces if desired.
  5. Cook 10 minutes more, taste and serve over basmati rice with cilantro.

Recipe Notes

  • For a smoother sauce, blend the sauce before adding cream, then return the chicken.
  • Add cayenne if you want more heat.
  • Use chicken thighs for the best slow-cooker texture.
On the side

Suggested Sides

  • Roasted vegetables
Caramelized vegetables add color and texture while their savory edges fit naturally beside seasoned chicken or pasta.
  • Crisp green salad
A bright vinaigrette supplies acidity and freshness to balance creamy sauces, cheese or browned chicken.
Wine pairing

Pour a Glass

Chardonnay or Pinot Gris
Both have enough body for chicken and creamy pasta, with acidity that keeps richer sauces from becoming too heavy.

Beer pairing

Crack One Open

Blonde ale
Soft malt and restrained hops complement chicken, garlic and cream without taking attention away from the dish.
